P. Rico - Welcome to Puerto Rico (2013) [NO DJ]

when we speak of chicago's drill scene we're often reminded of the drill pioneers (chief keef, and the whole gbe) but the question remains if there are any other artists that come on par with the success of chief keef. popularity wise, i think not. however, there are many hidden jewels from the chi producing hard bangers to cruise to when you're in the mood for some nice drums and memorable bars. p. rico has proved himself he has the charisma, the bars and the production to maybe one day be looked as a memorable artist from the drill scene. welcome to puerto rico, (debut mixtape) remains to be one of my favorite tapes to have ever come out in the drill scene. i want to say after the goodbye of jojo, rico took the loss of one of his brothers and went extra hard to prove he does have the capacity to produce buzz outside of the chi. JOJOWORLD! FREE RICO!

memorable tracks: no lackin', throat, make noise, no love

Drop Nineteens - Delaware (1992)

Drop Nineteens were a pretty dope shoegaze/indie rock band from the early 90's. Delaware was their debut album, and its often overlooked in the shoegaze community. Maybe its because they weren't known too well and only had 2 albums? I don't know. Either way, Delaware was a great album that really deserves a listen. The album's drenched in fuzz and light distortion, except for 2 acoustic songs (Baby Wonder's Gone, My Aquarium). Vocals are suprisingly clear, which is a little unusual for the typical dreamy-type that are present in most shoegaze songs. Out of the 10 songs that are present, I personally think only 2 songs are hard to listen to (Reberrymemberer, [Plus Fish Dream]). Other than that, its a dope college-radio-sounding album that needs your attention.

Standout Tracks: Winona, Kick The Tragedy, Happen
Sounds Like: My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Deerhunter (sorta lol)
